THE COLLECTIVE | FAQ
Getting Oriented
What happens when I tap the "The Collective" title?
It opens the About dialog: the theme picker, a link to the developer, and a link to the Data & Privacy Policies.
Where does the "CenterlineDynamic.com" link go?
It opens centerlinedynamic.com in your phone's default browser (Chrome, Safari, or whatever you have set) — it leaves The Collective rather than opening inside it.
Every link in the app behaves this way, including the Disclaimer screen and any link an AI includes in its response — none of them open inside the app.
What does the Theme dropdown do?
Changes the app's accent color. Four options: Purple, Gold, Silver, Bronze. Your pick saves automatically and applies immediately, no confirmation needed.
Running a Session
What does the Reset (refresh) icon do?
It appears in the header once a session is active and clears the screen so you can start a fresh question — same effect whether the session finished or you stopped it early.
Why did my send button turn into a reset icon?
That happens only in multi-AI mode, once the panel finishes answering. Tier, rounds, and AI selection stay locked to that completed answer until you tap reset — it's what unlocks them for the next question. Single-AI conversations don't lock: you can keep asking follow-ups directly.
What does the PDF button export?
It appears in the header once a query completes. In multi-AI mode it exports that full session — every panel's answer, the consensus score, and the summary. In single-AI mode it exports the entire conversation thread up to that point, not just the latest reply.
History
What's in the History screen?
Every past session and conversation, newest first. Tapping one restores it to the main screen along with the settings it was asked under — tier, live search, sources, and citation style.
What do the swipe gestures do?
Sends the entry to Trash. Blocked if the entry is archived — unarchive it first.
Archives the entry, protecting it from the trash swipe and from the history limit trimming older entries. Swipe right again to remove it from the archive.
A long-press on any entry opens a menu to copy, rename, or share it.
Does Archive really survive everything?
It survives the "Clear all" button and the history size limit. It does not survive clearing app storage or reinstalling — history lives only on-device, with no account-level backup, so archived items go with everything else in that case.
Credits
What does tapping the Credits chip do?
Opens the Credits sheet, where you can buy a credit pack, transfer a balance from another device, or hide/show the number on screen.
What does long-pressing Credits do?
Copies your device's transfer code to the clipboard. It's a paired ID + secret, tied specifically to this install — save it somewhere safe, since clearing app storage or reinstalling regenerates it and the old code becomes your only way back to that balance.
Tiers & Models
Tiers set which model each AI uses — quality, speed, and cost per query all move together.
Pro caps out at 2 debate rounds; the other three tiers allow up to 3.
Rounds
What do rounds control?
In multi-AI mode, rounds set how many times the AIs read each other's answers and reply again before a consensus score and summary are produced. More rounds mean more depth and higher cost. Single-AI mode is always exactly 1 round — there's no debate to have with yourself.
Live Search & Citations
What does the WiFi icon toggle?
Live web search. On (filled icon), AIs can pull current information — good for news or anything time-sensitive. Off (dimmed, slashed icon), they answer from training knowledge only. Enabling it adds a small per-AI credit surcharge.
What does the quote-mark icon toggle?
Citations. When on, responses cite sources formatted in whichever style you've picked below it.
| Style | Best for |
|---|---|
| APA 7th | Academic or professional writing. |
| Chicago | History, arts, business, and select humanities. |
| Harvard | Quoting, summarizing, or paraphrasing a source. |
| IEEE | Mathematical, scientific, and technological data. |
| MLA | Quoting, paraphrasing, or summarizing another author's work. |
Choosing Your AIs
How many AIs can I run at once?
Any combination of the four — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok — from 1 to 4. Selecting just one switches the whole app into single-AI conversation mode instead of a multi-AI panel.
Cost Estimate
What's the line above the text box?
A live estimate of what your question will cost, in credits — it recalculates as you type, since longer questions cost more. It reflects your current tier, AI count, round count, and any live-search surcharge, and turns red with "Not enough balance" if your credits won't cover it. Tap it for the full min–max range and why the final charge can land anywhere inside it.
